Occupational Therapy Job Summary:
Location: Teddington, Hounslow & Richmond
Salary: £32,257 - £42,140 per annum
Description: They are the NHS trust responsible for providing community health services for over 515,000 people living across the London boroughs of Hounslow and Richmond-upon-Thames. With over 1,000 staff. Community healthcare covers most of the services that are provided outside of hospital or GP surgeries.
The Community Recovery Service is an integrated health and social care service for adults identified with uni- and multi-disciplinary recovery needs. The service will support independence by providing rehabilitation and Reablement after an acute illness, injury or change in life circumstances. It aims to restore, maximise or prevent deterioration in physical, psychological and social functioning through episodes of rehabilitation and Reablement.
The purpose of this role is to;
• Hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from senior occupational therapists is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
• Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
• Undertake evidence-based projects and audit to further own and team’s clinical practice. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. May lead to the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols / care pathways.
Person Specification: The applicant must be HPC registered with a diploma/degree in physiotherapy or equivalent.
The following are essential: Completed two years Occupational Therapy experience, post graduate experience that covers core skills in rehabilitation including therapeutic handling and management of people with complex conditions, broad experience including orthopaedics, medical, neurology and elderly care, specific experience in specialty designated to post, experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team, well established knowledge of assessment tools and treatment techniques relevant to this client group and ability to contribute to clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants.
Desirable, the applicant should have membership to RCOT and membership to relevant clinical interest groups, experience and knowledge of community and neuro-rehabilitation Occupational Therapy services, and experience of supervision of junior staff, student or rehabilitation assistant.
